Appropriateness assessment

The appropriateness assessment is the MiFID II test, for services other than advice and portfolio management, of whether a client has the knowledge and experience to understand the risks of a complex product. If the product is not appropriate, the firm must warn the client. Execution-only services in non-complex products can be exempt.
